Honestly, since I have memory this has been the best pizza place in the world. Just stopped for a small portion on my layover to Zurich and man it was awesome! And Sergio Cordoba at the bar provides just an amazing conversation. He's so proud of the restaurant he's part of, and makes you feel at home. Hopefully I can have many Chicago layovers ahead.
On a Saturday evening, we ordered for pickup a deep dish Vegetarian pizza and a salad bowl. The entire order process and pick up was efficient, professional and courteous. High marks for service. Sadly, I can't say the same for taste and flavor of food. Basically, the pizza, although built right, was flat in taste and flavor, maybe not even worthy to be associated with Chicago Deep Dish. Many of their competitors do a much better job with Deep Dish. I've had their thin crust pizza at another time and was impressed with flavor. Salad was very basic with some mixed salad greens and a solitary cherry tomato. The house dressing (oil and vinegar) was the best thing about the meal. Next time, if I have a choice, I'll skip their Deep Dish altogether.
First of all the service, atmosphere, and everything about this place are good. The pizza took 40 minutes and was clearly crafted with care. But, I'm a bit of a traditional pizza guy, so, let's just say this is a different thing. The pizza is actually a savoury crumbly pie dough, and they put the sauce on top of the cheese. Umm, not my thing. So, just be aware it's as if a baker had leftover dough from making pies and decided to make a pizza.
Super great experience! First time in Chicago and very good deep dish pizza! Not only was our food the best so was the service. Aaron the waiter was amazing! The conversations and laughs was the best. Definitely a recommended place
I have been to the big players in the "Chicago Deep Dish Pizza" world. I lived in Chicago for a few years and have family in the area and have visited for more than 30. This is the best deep dish pizza in Chicago. This may be the "pizza cognition theory" in action as this was the first deep dish pizza I every had in Chicago, but it's the winner in my opinion. I've tried several variants, but the winner in my opinion is the rather straightforward pepperoni and sausage. Yes, you walk in and order and then go to the bar or the booth and wait for 45 minutes or an hour. Expect that. It's worth the time and effort.
