Tons of great reviews about this place for a reason. The people are nice and the food is great. We walked in and were seated right away in the upstairs dinning room. Our server told us to place our pizza order quickly because it is made fresh and takes 45 minutes. A few of the other patrons warned us that the food there is filling so we ordered a small pepperoni and green olive deep dish. Great tip! We also ordered mozzarella sticks which came out after 10 minutes. They were perfect! Cheese was gooey and not to hot. Then the pizza came out! Man that was a slice of heaven. It was cooked with a light crust around the edges and the bottom was crispy and not hard. Also, it was filling. My buddy and I had trouble finishing the pizza after the cheese sticks! The food was so good, I forgot to take a picture. I highly recommend this place.
As a New Yorker, I was loathe to even try this place. But it totally blew me away. Fantastic. Would absolutely love to have again. Super flavorful, well seasoned sauce. Cheese was delicious. Toppings were fresh and perfectly cooked. Wait staff was friendly, fast, professional. Definitely will go back next time I'm in Chicago.
Dined here from out of town....Was highly recommended by a friend. Food was good however service was really bad. After being seated, was not attended to by the assigned server. After waiting 15 minutes, went back to the front to ask the person assigning tables if our server was informed about being assigned to us. Would suggest ordering a to go instead of dining in. It being a weekend could also be a factor but still service could have been better. (Edit as per request of owner) We had dined from 6:45 and left at around a couple minutes before or after 9. Seated at the second level, back most. Table 55 is what i heard while being seated. My friend had to get us napkins from the stash as we where not given any. Barely got asked if we wanted more water or refills until we asked for them. Server placed plates and utensils at the table but never told us he was going to be our server so at first i thought he was just assigned to distribute plates. Pizza wait time is long but its highly understandable as it was a dip dish pizza, would have been all worth that wait if not for the service we got.
Pequod’s delicious crust and flavorful toppings make them unique to other Chicago deep dish pizzas. Their toppings are incredible - huge chunks of flavorful sausage, big pepperonis, and plenty of cheese. Speaking of cheese, their burnt crust is a wonderful variation that is more akin to Detroit style. So good. Good beer list with some quality local selections. More of a bar vibe than the other classic pizza restaurants, which was a welcome change. Worth the drive from more touristy areas of Chicago.
I had been looking forward to this pizza for months and it absolutely exceeded expectations. I had the personal size well done, with pepperoni, cut. I don’t know if a more perfect flavor profile and texture exists. It’s like pan pizza and deep dish pizzas came together and had a beautiful, burnt, crunchy, tangy pizza baby. It’s so rich and indulgent with so much amazing flavor. There are so few places that are worth the hype. This is absolutely worth the hype. I ordered ahead and opted to eat on a bench outside. They kept it warm before I arrived so it was burning hot as I ate it. I just don’t know if I’ve had many happier food moments in my life.
